Nayla Nasir A Albaloushi from the United Arab Emirates  has become the first woman from her country to summit Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world.

Nayla  stood atop the 8848.88m peak on 14 May, according to expedition organizer Chhang Dawa Sherpa of Seven Summit Treks.

“She became the first Emirati female in history to climb the world's highest peak,” Sherpa said.

Mount Everest is likely to see an early end of the spring climbing season owing to good weather conditions. The peak has recorded more than 350 ascents in just one week.

A total of 317 climbers have obtained permits to climb Everest from the Nepal side in the ongoing spring season, according to the Department of Tourism.

Former Miss Ukrainian scales Everest, sets a record

Meanwhile, the former Miss Uruguay Vanessa Estol also scaled Mount Everest becoming the first woman to do so from her country.

“This experience was proof that with perseverance and resilience dreams do come true,” she wrote on Facebook.

To stand atop Everest she had to quit her permanent job and change her life 180 degrees by starting a new business to try and fund expeditions.

“Lost friends, family events, trips, savings.... but she was determined,” she wrote.

She was determined to scale  Everest in 2020. But her expedition was canceled due to Covid-19 pandemic. At that time, Nepal had canceled all expeditions barring foreigners to visit Nepal.

In 2021, Nepal opened mountaineering. But her attempt to scale Everest was canceled because of impacts of back to back cyclones with very strong winds and infection of Covid-19 at the mountain’s base camp. Scores of climbers had abandoned their expeditions to save life from pandemic.

She returned to Nepal to climb Everest this spring too. This year, her dream came true.  She cried when she stood atop Everest.

“I cried several times; some out of pain, others out of emotion and not being able to believe where I was,” she wrote, thanking everyone  involved to make her dream come true .
