Rope fixing team retreated from 7,800m in Kanchenjunga, while summit push on Dhaulagiri has been aborted entirely after a month-long attempt to open route to the summit. 

Kristin and her climbing mates will leave for Pakistan on June 9. Pakistan has five 8,000 peaks—K2 (8,611), Nagaparbat (8,126m), Gasherbrum I (8,080), Broad Peak (8,051) and Gasherbrum II (8,035).

She hopes to summit four more 8000ers – Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Everest and Lhotse before flying to Pakistan where she plans to climb five peaks above 8,000 meters in mid-June.

SST Chairman Mingma Sherpa said that Antonis Sykaris breathed his last at an altitude of 7,400 meters early in the morning. Sykaris was with his guide, Pemba Sherpa, both of whom had successfully reached the summit around 12 hours earlier on Monday.

Ten climbers and their 12 Sherpa guides reached the summit at around 10.30 am, according to Dawa Futi Sherpa of Imagine Nepal, an agency that organized the expedition. Dhaulagiri is the seventh highest peak in the world with an  altitude of 8,167 meters.
