Sherpa climber completes “Triple Crown” in under five days

Tenzing David Sherpa summited Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse in rapid succession this spring, becoming one of the few climbers to complete the Himalayan “Triple Crown” within a single season.

Tenzing David Sherpa has climbed Mount Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse in less than five days, completing a Triple Crown achievement in the same spring season, officials said.

Tenzing David Sherpa summited Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,516m) and Nuptse (7,861m) in succession, becoming one of a handful of climbers worldwide to do so within a single season, according to the Department of Tourism's field office .

According to his brother Dawa Steven Sherpa, the climb was not well thought out. Dawa Steven Sherpa said his brother stepped forward at the last minute to take over the responsibility of organising rope fixing on Nuptse with limited help from other teams, and then led clients up all three peaks under a constrained timeframe.

"What makes me most proud of your achievement today is not the demonstration of your incredible strength, endurance and will power. We all know these mountains see enough of that," Dawa Steven Sherpa wrote on Thursday. "What I am most proud of is your rare character in how you take on responsibility far beyond anyone’s expectations, your quiet humility when you turn them into successes and to genuinely want everyone around you to also share in that success without ever asking for any credit."

Tenzing David Sherpa’s triple summit adds to a list of notable alpine achievements in the 2026 spring climbing season on Everest. The Triple Crown — climbing Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse in one continuous push or in quick succession — is considered a demanding challenge in the Himalayas due to extreme altitude, technical terrain and tight weather windows.

Separately, Norwegian climber Kristin Harila reached the summit of Lhotse on Thursday, days after climbing Mount Nuptse. Harila is also eyeing to achieve the Triple Crown while already summiting two peaks, while her guide Ming Temba Sherpa already completed the Everest Lhotse Nuptse Triple Crown after earlier summiting Everest with the rope fixing team.
