Season’s final summit on Kangchenjunga

A team from Seven Summit Treks successfully scaled Kangchenjunga, the world’s third-highest peak, the last summit of the season in Nepal, the expedition organizer said.

The summit team on Saturday included Nima Rinje Sherpa, Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Alina Pekova, Phurbu Kusang Sherpa, Fura Tshering Sherpa, Dendi Sherpa, Ang Tenji Sherpa, Anja Blacha, and Sona Sherpa, according to Kathmandu-based Seven Summit Treks. Anja Blacha notably climbed the 8,586-meter summit without supplemental oxygen.

This achievement concludes the climbing season in Nepal. Now, the expedition agencies will focus their attention on Pakistan, where the climbing season starts with the conclusion of the spring season in Nepal.

The Department of Tourism had given permission to 33 climbers, including 12 women from four expedition groups, to climb Kangchenjunga, many of whom had aborted their attempts after initial efforts proved unsuccessful.
