Deeya Pun scales Elbrus in bid to complete Seven Summits Challenge

With Elbrus now conquered, the Dayarani star moves one step closer to joining an elite global group of Seven Summits climbers.

Nepali actress Deeya Pun has successfully summited Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, as part of her ambitious Seven Summits challenge.

According to Elite Expedition, the climbing team she partnered with, Pun reached the 5,642-meter summit at 10 am (local time) on Tuesday.

She also shared the news on social media, posting photos with the national flag of Nepal, as well as flags of the Tamu Society and British Gurkhas.

She also unfurled a banner for her upcoming film Eklo, which was featured at the Cannes Film Market. In the film, she portrays the role of an astronaut.

Deeya has now completed four of the Seven Summits: Everest (Asia), Kilimanjaro (Africa), Aconcagua (South America), and most recently, Elbrus (Europe).

She is the first Nepali celebrity to achieve this milestone. Nisha Adhikari was the first Nepali actress to summit Mount Everest. This year, Kabita Nepali — a celebrated dancer, model, and actress — became the first celebrity to summit both Everest and Lhotse in a single push.

Best known for her roles in hit Nepali films Dayarani and Bir Bikram, Deeya is a registered nurse by profession. She balances her career in healthcare and cinema with high-altitude climbing — a rare feat that has made her a national inspiration.

With just three peaks left — Denali (North America), Carstensz Pyramid (Oceania), and Vinson Massif (Antarctica) — Deeya is inching closer to becoming the first Nepali celebrity to complete the Seven Summits challenge.

In 2014, the Seven Summits Women Team, led by Shailee Basnet, made history by becoming the first all-female team to complete the challenge.

Meanwhile, four sibling sisters — Chhiri Aangjum Sherpa, Nima Jangmu Sherpa, Tshering Namgya Sherpa, and Dawa Futi Sherpa — are also on track to make history as the first Nepali sisters to complete the Seven Summits challenge by December. Denali and Vinson Massif are the only two peaks left for them to scale.
