Dawa Finjhok Sherpa, a climbing guide with Seven Summit Treks, has successfully summited Mount Everest for the third time this season, completing the feat in just 8 days, 13 hours, and 35 minutes, the company announced. It is unclear whether this is a record in itself.

Sherpa, who first summited on May 12, 2024, reached the top again on May 17 and achieved his third ascent on May 20, all with the aid of supplemental oxygen, the Seven Summit Treks said. He is now preparing for a fourth summit attempt in the coming days. Khimlal Gautam, Chief of the Expedition Monitoring and Facilitation Field Office at the base camp, separately confirmed his ascents and the fourth attempt of the season.

Dawa Finjhok was part of the mission to retrieve the body of Indian national Goutam Ghosh, who was buried under the snow at an altitude of 8,400 meters (27,500 feet) in 2017. Ghosh had died a year earlier. The mission is considered one of the most difficult and was featured in a New York Times piece. Sherpa had also taken pictures and videos of the retrieval mission for the Times.
