Assistant Inspector Danta Bahadur Chhatyal summits Mount Everest to unfurl the flags of Nepal's flagship climate dialogue Sagarmatha Sambaad and APF Nepal, inspiring global discourse on climate change, mountains, and the future of humanity
Assistant Inspector of Nepal's Armed Police Force (APF), Danta Bahadur Chhatyal, successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest on Saturday morning, the force confirmed in an official statement.
Chhatyal, as a envoy under the “Sagarmatha Sambaad” initiative, reached the 8,848.86-meter summit at 9:20 a.m. local time and unfurled the Sagarmatha Sambaad and APF Nepal flags at the top of the world, according to APF Inspector Nirmal Basnet, the force's coordination officer stationed at Everest Base Camp.
The achievement was recognized by APF Additional Inspector General Rajendra Aryal, who congratulated Chhatyal in a public message, calling it a proud moment for the force and for Nepal.
According to the Department of Tourism, over 500 climbers, including Sherpa guides, have successfully summited Everest so far this spring season. The government of Nepal issued 468 permits to foreign climbers this year—86 women and 382 men from 47 teams.
