A French climber died on Mount Ama Dablam (6,812m) on Friday morning, government official said.
Morschel Jean-Marc, 61, breathed his last at Camp III outside his tent. “He collapsed shortly after he came out of his tent to board a rescue helicopter. His body has been brought down to Lukla for post mortem,” said Bigyan Koirala, section officer at the Department of Tourism.
This is the second fatality on the mountain this season. Mingma Wangdi Sherpa, a member of the rope fixing team, had died at Camp III on descent after the team fixed the line to the summit of Mount Ama Dablam on October 17.
After bad weather thwarted climbers from summiting Manaslu and Dhaulagiri, climbers moved to Mount Ama Dablam. Nepal government has already issued 395 climbing permits for the mountain, which is considered a technical 6,000er.
