Record holding climbers Nima Rinji Sherpa, Chhang Dawa Sherpa, Mingma Dorchi Sherpa along with 12 climbers reached the summit of Annapurna (8091m) on Friday noon.
According to expedition organizer Seven Summit Treks, Annapurna was 11th 8000m peak for 17-year-old Nima Rinji, who is on a mission to become the youngest climbers to complete 14 eight-thousanders. With this, only Kanchenjunga, Makalu and Shishapangma will remain, which he will attempt this year.
Had there been no avalanche last October, he would have summited Shishapangma to achieve his goal this spring. All expeditions got cancelled after massive avalanche swept away four climbers.
Nima Rinji holds multiple records, which include the youngest to traverse Everest and Lhotse, the youngest climber to scale Lhotse, Manaslu real summit and K2.
As the rope fixing team of Seven Summit Treks established the climbing route to the summit, climbers are on their way to summit push. According to the Department of Tourism, 25 foreign climbers including 11 women have obtained climbing permits for Annapurna till date.
