Australian climber Bianca Jane Adler has become the youngest Australian to summit Mount Everest after reaching the top of the world’s highest mountain on Wednesday during the ongoing spring climbing season in Nepal.

Kathmandu-based expedition organizer Seven Summit Treks said Adler, 18, reached the 8,849-metre peak under fair weather conditions on May 20 with Nepali guides Pemba Chhiring Sherpa and Ngudu Sherpa.

The ascent comes amid a busy 2026 Everest season in which Nepal has issued climbing permits to 494 foreign climbers for the mountain, according to tourism department data.

Adler had earlier made headlines in 2024 after becoming the youngest female climber to summit Manaslu at the age of 16.

She also continues a family mountaineering legacy. Her father, Paul Adler, summited Everest in 2007, while her mother, Fionna Adler, climbed the mountain in 2006.

The spring climbing season on Everest typically runs from April through May, when climbers attempt the summit during short windows of stable weather.
